Sam

Who I am (in a nutshell):

Hello! My name is Sam and I'm a fourteen year old unschooled autodidact. I'm interested in educating myself about the mechanics of things--history, literature, culture, society, language. I'm currently taking a creative writing course at my local university, where I'm crafting my first short story (about the issue of suicide among writers). I take private French lessons, am part of a paddling team and volunteer at a youth crisis hotline.

In my free time I like experimenting with dying my hair various colors, watching Katharine Hepburn movies and teaching myself the ways of an educational deviant.

My current personal project is on Virginia Woolf. I'm reading all of her major works and hope to write a series of critical essays on her, which you'll see showcased in this blog. I'm playing with abstract ways of writing essays on historical figures, so tell me what you think once I've posted them!

  1. Sometimes, your vocabulary surprises me. Actually, it doesn't. It would if you were anyone else.

  2. Best compliment ever. Now I have to start bothering you about doing a post on our popcorn blog. Will you write a movie review with me? Please. And email me! I want to know what your NaNoWriMo novel is about.
